| the things i remember the most about grandma is her cooking... i still remember every year she'll makes rice dumplings not only for the family but for pretty much all the neighbors near our building... seriously i'm talking about hundreds and hundreds of rice dumplings!!! i remember when we visit her during chinese new year you can always feel the heat (especially in the old house) because she'll always be cooking in the kitchen... making this and that... and everytime when i visit she'll always make sure that there will be a big pot of sesame oil soup ready for me... she knows that's my favorite.... and in a way that's the one thing i always looking forward to whenever i visit tw... but the last time when i tasted the soup it was too salty... then i realized that grandma is really getting old and start losing her senses... eventually i will never get to taste her cooking anymore... the following years whenever i visit there'll still be a pot waiting for me... but they were no longer grandma's work anymore... she only supervise her maid nancy to do the job... thou of course the food never tasted the same... now that grandma is gone...i told carol that i want to learn how to make the sesame oil soup... i want to master it and make sure that the recipe will carry on generation by generation... |

| just came back from tw for my grandma 90's birthday party. it was a very short trip and was very tiring too cuz since i have to leave the whole sat out for the party and to visit other relatives, we had to fit every to-eat and to-do list all on friday... anyway so we got to the hotel around 11am on friday ... the hotel is very far away from the places we want to go but then i can't complain cuz i don't have to pay for it... anyhow since we can't check-in til 3...we just dropped our suitcase and went straight to our first stop 永康街 for the beef noodles, mango shaved ice, and egg pancakes!!! after that we went to the east side to do some shopping... i really like to shop in tw because the staff are all extremely nice and friendly... sometimes a bit over thou cuz they act like they know you and started asking all these questions about where you are from, what you are doing in tw or where you are staying etc etc... but it's all good cuz sometimes they will ended up giving me mad discounts!! haha but seriously thou another reason i like to shop in tw is that after i started asking them if they have xl size for this or that, a lot of time they will ended up bring out all the xl t's for me to choose... kindda remind me of shopping in japan too cuz sometimes they will do the same there...
anyway after we walked from one end to another i started to get this feeling that my legs doesn't belong to me anymore... so we stopped by this tea place for some bubble milk tea... then head over to the book store near 101... hmm but speaking of that place sometime i kindda scare to go there cuz you'll think that it's only for books but most of the time you'll come out carrying everything else but books!!! ahh...yeah...so... i got a new bag while we were there... but hey it's an orange bag man!!! i've been looking for a good orange bag ever since i retired this other orange bag i got in japan like 7-8 years ago... so ah.. yeah i'm done for the whole trip!!! haha
so the next day my bro and cousin kept telling me about this hot hot mix chick they look at this club the night b4.. how she has this amazing body and how she accidentally flashed them without realizing it cuz she was kindda buzzed ... anyway i guess i missed out a lot but then again i was dead tired so oh well... tough luck... anyway so it was nice seeing all my cousins from US again as we haven't seen each other since i left for college... and it was kindda touching cuz the last time everyone gathers in tw was like 20 years ago to celebrate my grandma for getting some award for being a "super mom".... back then we were all just little kids and now most of us already started our own family... and i was so overwhelmed that i don't even care about how bad the food was... haha i mean seriously once again it proves that in tw you can only go to food stands cuz most of the restaurants SUCK!!! oh well i guess at that moment the food really was not a factor as everyone was too busy catching up with each others, busy taking pics... speaking of pics i wonder why it never crossed anyone's mind about hiring someone to take pic for us.. or even set up the place a little so everyone can gather and take group pic... i mean yeah we did take group pics but behind a table filled with left overs?? well for that i kindda felt bad cuz it never crossed my mind either that i should bring my gears and offer myself to be the photographer... i wonder if i'll ever have the chance to make that up... |
